Xbox will no longer have permanent console exclusives going forward according to Jez Corden

"It's cuz they don't want to just mandate it on teams that aren't set up yet for multiplatform simultaneous development.

But the era of Xbox having permanent console exclusives is over."

Well... I guess this means things will change soon. So I guess the next Xbox might be the last one where it takes 6-12 months before the Xbox games do drop on a PlayStation console/handheld or a Nintendo one as well. I guess we'll see during 2025 or 2026 what Microsoft's/Xbox's plans are in regards to this.

This has been expected since their business meeting back this past February. For me personally, while exclusives are great and all, it's not what got me to switch from PlayStation to Xbox this generation. It was Game Pass (Ultimate) and getting Microsoft's games day one on the subscription service which is simply worth far more to me (along with third party games day one) than exclusivity. Add in being able to use my all time favorite and best controller in Xbox One, free Cloud saves, better backwards compatibility, discounts while being a Game Pass subscriber, Ubisoft+ which includes the best versions of their games day one (which is something I don't see happening on PlayStation) a 6 game a year refund policy and simply preferring the platform and eco-system more, there's simply no contest.

Hell, as long as Microsoft still offers their games day one on Game Pass Ultimate as well as console hardware which they will since both are interconnected to each other, they can port every Microsoft published game to Sony/Nintendo platforms day one for all I care.
