As the title and poll says, what price T2 and Rockstar charge? Be the first ones to move to $80? Or even restrain at $70 or even go at $60? Or go "fuck it" and charge even $100?

I have the feeling it'll be $80, GTA VI is going to have a huge development + marketing budget so $80 for a decade/generational defining game they think they'll charge $80.

I think $70... But I don't for sure see it going above $80 though.

If there's a game to bump prices up another £10 it'll be this, people will still flood by the millions to get it whether it's £70 or £80 and they definitely know that 🤑

I mean Tom did report that game prices will go up by 10 USD/Euros/Pounds etc eventually for the top games, though for this gen it'll only be GTA VI with PS6 gen following with that. And the top billing Nintendo games will go to that same price as well with the Switch 2 Successor IMV.

Wouldn't surprise me at all since 2K started it with NBA 2K21 🤬.

And isn't 2K owned by Rockstar parent company too Take 2 or am I wrong?

What bothers me sometimes is how could the government guys allow them do such things. If FTC can try to protect "competition" by suing guys like MS, why can't they protect the consumers by proper & fair regulation of game prices, especially digital ones where they have iron grip in pricing (🤗 Horizon Zero Dawn).

I would be totally ok with 70 or 80 buck games if they have already INCLUDED MICROTRANSACTIONS ON-DISC such as preorder DLC, season pass, etc. plus other sorts of add-ons they nickel & dime us with.

But they don't.

So where do we draw the line?

Worse, some guys even defend these things like "oh blah blah blah inflation blah blah blah excuses". It's like they ask jump & these guys respond how high. It's a mindset that I just deeply despise, no matter what anyone says.

Looking at Elden Ring & Armored Core 6, both $60 games. And these other guys have the audacity to ask for higher price tag yet they're inferior in many ways than one? How can anyone justify this is unacceptable & wrong...

Yet we allow it.

Where do we stop?

How could we if we don't all stand up...

Together?

But we don't & we won't because some or most guys just simply do what they're told 😔

70$ for the standard, premium edition might cost much more but who cares haha but yeah 70$ will be the price tag, very slim chance of increasing price.

That's what I thought too Alph bro but you never know with T2 (again they started this whole $70 thing with NBA 2k21).

Can they take the backlash if they ask 75 or 80 bucks for GTA6? Yes probably. Will they do it? Who knows.

If they do I bet there's gonna be some sort of a lawsuit because they can't keep getting away with it. Nobody is bigger than the industry, even for Rockstar.

I genuinely hope FTC guys are always monitoring these kinds of stuff.

I can tell u with 100% guarantee that the price wont change, it will be 70$. Why see industry shifted at that time and rumours were there that a lot of corpo are changing its price scheme to 10$ extra but now suddenly if T2 changes its price to a higher number it will most certainly have legal actions from Multiple countries, especially EU. So I dont know why Ppl even think that they will increase the price just bc its GTA6. If Global market/Inflation changes then also its difficult to change a price for a digital good. Plus I believe Sony and MS have restrictions on how much a Standard, Premium edition of a game can cost so they just cant increase like that and I can understand why ppl are so into this narrative that T2 will increase the price of the game (Standard Edition) due to high demand but ofc they can make extra money with the premium edition like for example RDR2's digital premium edition (Ultimate Edition) was 100$ they can change that to 200$ for GTA6. But standard will remain the same for 70$.

Mark my word, GTA VI will cost $80 minimum.
Bump, there is no way they are charging less than this. Could even be 80 GBP/EUR and 90 USD to account for rate differences and purchasing power.

GTA VI is the definition of an inelastic good, there is so much demand and absolutely no substitute, they can get away with charging more very easily.

Is this bad for the consumer? Maybe, but games have gotten so much more expensive to produce - you either pay for it with micro-transactions, or more expensive games.
