What's up with the whacky currency exchanges PS seemingly used for the Pro's price points?

Not forgetting the stand and disk drive!
For people who have waited for the mid-gen upgrade before switching out their ps4 this must feel like robbery.

Is there a reason they've adpoted to include some sort of mark up when there used to be a $50 discrepancy from UK to US prices?

Could be various factors.

- Govt greed / taxes / customs / duties / levies / tariffs
- US moves more units which means they ship more which in turn brings down the cost of shipping per unit
- Cost of doing business (in SA brick and mortar stores are still huge so I'm guessing that the lower revenue has caused them to increase the margin)

They might have anticipated inflation and currency prices so that they don't have to change the price like they had to with the PS5

There's a "markup" factor. Like the PS5 price in the UK should've been £650 with VAT included (700 USD is £533.39, add VAT and it's actually £640.07). A lot of tech companies love to markup products outside the US.

For Sony PlayStation absolutely dominates outside NA (especially continental Europe, Asia, Latin America etc) so they can do whatever they want price wise.

Colin Moriarty mentioned this, and while he said it's a little unfortunate for other markets, the US is still easily the #1 market for consoles, so they need to move the most consoles there, hence why it's the "cheapest" there.

Unfortunate for other places though. Here (Canada) we only were victim of a $10 bump from the actual conversion.

Makes sense... I hope it doesn't remain this way forever though!
