This question always fascinates me for variety of reasons because as longtime gamer since PS1 era, the bread & butter of our favourite hobby has been console + TV + controller + you.
So many have tried to escape this norm like VR, motion sensors, 3D, etc. but if it ain't broke don't fix it right? That's why I guess none of these other techs, however successful, lasted long or as a popular choice to play.
Could the next step in evolution is holograms or augmented reality? Sort of like what Tony Stark does at his coffee table & such in Marvel movies.
What about the Matrix & neuro sci-fi tech it shows? I mean who wouldn't want to kungfu like Keanu!
That being said the question too is how do we get there & when.
But really... Do we need or want to?
Videogames right now are so profitable & accessible. It's so fun to together couch co-op or online with friends & of course singleplayer storytelling masterpieces that rivals Hollywood.
I mean it's simply humbling to witness the evolution of 2D sprites to 4K mega blockbuster AAA games in just three decades or so.
What could be next not only is exciting to see but to be able to be part of that would be amazing because I personally have no idea lol but as the saying goes...
It's about the journey & not the destination
Thoughts on this everyone.
