Thoughts on The Game Awards allowing DLC's, remakes, remasters etc. to be nominated?

Feels like a bit of a sham to me. Remasters / Remakes feel beyond cheeky but new seasons and DLC? That's a joke. I think there will definitely be actual new games that miss out on awards, and the benefits and promotion along with them, because of stuff like this.

Imagine "RDR2 remastered" and it's just a 60fps patch, the game is incredible so should that deserve to win because remasters count as a GOTY contender in their eyes?

Seen some people prophesying this is just teasing giveaway that Elden Ring's DLC will win at TGA.

Instead of this they should make a new category like best expansion and best remake or remaster because like this new games wouldn't get a chance to win a nomination let alone win the award

I agree. I'd rather see a completely new category than them being part of traditional games. It feels like it gives them an advantage, IMO. It also feels like it was a rule changed for Elden Ring and Diablo 4...

Yeah and if Elden Ring wins all FromSoft has worked for will be labelled overhyped and as it should because Shadow of the Erdtree is a awesome dlc no doubt but it doesn't deserve to win game of the year for a 2nd time

DLC/Expansion should be a new separate category. Remasters shouldn't even be acknowledged because they had their time already. Remakes like Resident Evil should be treated as a brand new game because in so many ways, they are.
