Is the GOD OF WAR franchise at a crossroads for the 7th mainline installment? Should it be open-world? General thoughts on the franchise.

Just a thought that suddenly came to me; what is Sony's masterplan for the Kratos?

Or... without him 🤔?

Not saying that's how I want them to go or something but it's worth asking given his son seems ready to take on his mantle. Or not. I mean because what's a Batman game WITHOUT the Batman right?

Thoughts on the possibility for the 7th game to be full blown open world tho? I'd like to see Elden Ring level of scale because playing that game with its colossal things & monsters most of the time makes me think "what would Kratos to with guy" moments lol

I personally haven't played Ragnarok so I'm not fully aware what happened after the game but to those who did, what's your take on this too guys?

Would be nice if Santa Monica took a break from God of War and did an all new IP.

That said, it almost felt like they wanted to spin off his son into a game after completing Ragnarok.

I haven't gotten around to playing Ragnarok yet, but I was a huge fan of the previous title. It was my first introduction to the series really, and I must say that beating the Valkyrie Queen was one of my greatest achievements in gaming (along with beating Dead Space 2 on Hardcore mode).

That being said assuming Ragnarok is similar to its predecessor a more open world could be an interesting take.
 
I have a feeling they're going to move Atreus to the protag seat, which I really hope they don't. He was my least favourite part of Ragnarok.

They might be taking a break from God of War for now, there really aren't many places they can take Kratos that is compelling.

An Egyptian setting would have gods aplenty; their own pantheon tfor Kratos to battle through. Hot off the heels of the Wukong games' success chinese mythology done well would walk into a huge and delighted reception.

I more mean that Kratos has been to greece and had a full arc. He's battled the Norse Gods and had a full arc.

Battling gods from different pantheons is part of it, but you kinda need reasons and stakes to make it interesting and memorable.

Is there really anything more that you can do to Kratos's character that makes another run with him interesting?

Dude for real I wanna play especially 1-2.

That Ares fight is so iconic & I haven't finished 2... I think lol

3 is still on my backlog bought it during PSN sale.

Wonder if the remakes will be 1:1 of original cam or they gonna go over the shoulder like the new ones 🤔...

Also please I hope they remaster Ascension since I never got to play that!

Yeah Sony has soo many options for remakes and remasters but what do we get is Horizon and Last of us

If they do get made at some point, I'd be a little disappointed if they opted for 3rd person like the new ones.

Just give us a 1:1 recreation, but with modern day visuals like SSM are known for.
