Gaming now compared to 10+ years ago

Anyone else think online gaming now is not as good as 10+ years ago?

Like I honestly think season passes and micro transactions have ruined games.

For example GTA IV my favourite game I could jump on for hours have fun with my friends level up play some TDM and in my ( unpopular ) opinion GTA V online sucks compared to it there’s just to much going on and the flying bikes etc are just stupid keep that stuff on single player.

Call of duty another one what happened to just getting on having some fun, these days there’s silly skins and silly camos out there it’s just so disappointing, don’t even get me started on the menus either and the fact there’s so many attachments for each gun keep it simple if I want a stock on my gun give me a stock don’t make me choose between multiple I like simplicity.

Well this kind of turned into a rant 😂

What’s everyone else’s opinion on online games now compared to years ago?

I dont play onine gaming at all. Its too toxic people try to find ways to beat the system and cheat. Offline, i can play games I want to play the way I want to play them and just get to it.

Those FUT/MUT modes on sports games are awful. I detest them with absolute passion.

Im at the point that I wish games would give us the option to download just the offline part of them to save space on whatever device we use (i think CoD allows that these days??)

It is a bit of a weird one. In many cases online gaming now is better than ever.

I think the issue the fortnite-ification of a lot of series like Call of Duty. GTA has always had weird things in it, usually by cheatcode, it's not a surprise that after being out for like 10 years GTAV starts adding some out there stuff.

Games like Fortnite basically survive on their collabs, feeding tie-ins to big movies, anime, video games, etc. It's pretty much a marketing delivery system that is also a video game haha. It works for Fortnite, but obv like anything else in the games industry if something is popular and makes money, you can believe that EVERYONE will try and rip it off. Which is why you have Nikki Minaj running around in Call of Duty.

While I agree it seems like the majority of people in online gaming are super toxic, there are definitely the few and the proud who are solid people. Any COD type game I typically have anyone who's not my friend automatically muted. Definitely helps to have a friend group established, but I remember making quite a few good acquaintances on games like Destiny.

Years ago on the earlier CoD we had a bunch of people that we played with and had some great times no doubts and I miss that to be fair. Times move on and those people do to lol. Ive no doubt that there are a bunch of people out there having an absolute blast with online games. Im at that stage where offline, at my own pace is where its at.

I miss the days of Xfire when gaming clans were a thing. Some of my fondest memories were finally making it into one of the top-tier clans in America's Army 2.3. Nowadays, clans and communities feel superficial.

Maybe it's just me, but I also note it's rare to hop into a voice chat to hang out and play games. We used to join Xbox 360 voice parties while playing anything and everything, from the moment we got home after school until it was time to shut off the console.
