Could the 5th Xbox could capitalize next-gen because of the whole PS5 Pro "controversy"?

Since Microsoft skips this midgen refresh, this got me wondering; they could have cooking something all along while taking a backseat.

Maybe Phil Spencer has an ace up in his sleeve that no one's got a clue yet after all. Could it be the next evolution of their proprietary AI Cortana? More powerful tech than SSD?

Perhaps games that would totally make our collective jaws drop in unison such as Elder Scrolls 6? Open world Gears of War? A Halo RPG? So many options & I haven't even mentioned Call of Duty.

Or what if they're gonna be the one to finally make way for legitimate holograms in our living rooms 🤔?

I mean it's wishful thinking but one of if not the biggest tech giant in the game has got to have some sort of master plan.

Could a déjà vu happen like during seventh generation of videogames when Xbox 360 launched way earlier than the PS3 & taking the lead on the console war?

Now THAT would be interesting indeed...

But who's to know at this point right.

Exactly plus MS has been focusing too much on Cloud Gaming for some reason

Which, in all fairness, is a good business to be with ie Netflix.

But when it comes to videogames? Most players, including myself, values ownership very much.

Game Pass I'm sure is an awesome deal for tons of people but just for me personally still it's physical disc > online rental.

Microsoft IMO was its strongest during the OG Xbox & 360 era because one of the reasons was they gave us a CHOICE either couch co-op or online or BOTH & that leads to fun for all kinds of gamers.

They abandoned this strategy for their newer games, among many others, so as you said their focus aren't as laser as it was & it's scattered all over the place really ie cloud gaming, acquiring studios then laying off staff instead of them making games, etc.

Just my two cents about that Alph.

I kinda agree to what you said but I am curious if we will ever see an another Xbox console. Why I say it only bc consoles aren’t helping them much, I think what u said is something to take consider and I probably think leaning to digital might be more profitable for MS and take more things on the software side. Gamepass is a service that should had been only on Xbox otherwise there is no reason to get a Xbox. Plus very curious on what Netflix is doing with their gaming department some heavy names in the industry are in that project.

That's totally possible too Alph.

Not only for the stuff we both said here so far but given they've already release FIRST PARTY games on a rival console (Sony) is unprecedented enough, it's very odd they didn't do a midgen refresh to compete with them too (PS5 Pro).

Which if I'm not mistaken didn't Microsoft's second console, the Xbox 360, started with 360 slim or something?

If you're a betting man all signs point to MS going the Sega route... But then again they just bought THE BIGGEST GAMING acquisition in history (Activision) too right?

So again who knows really what their master plan is at this point.

I dont think MS ever did a midgen refresh or nor that they will ever do and regarding the 360, I think it was only because how profitable it was plus I believe the first consoles had a huge memory problem so in order to fix they had to put out a refresh. Only time will tell but My guess is MS is going to the digital era and let’s see what future holds

I am looking forward to the next Xbox. I am starting to hit 1000 games that I paid for in my digital library, and I love that I can carry these forward into the next gen consoles. If the rumors of 2026 are true, that is exciting. I just hope they make it easier to develop for and that they don't have two different skus that have such a performance difference.
