Any updates on John Wick-directed Ghost of Tsushima film adaptation & are you guys in favor of new cast vs original?

I hope they can retain Daisuke from the game but also Hiroyuki Sanada (fresh off winning Emmy congrats!) would be perfect fit as Shimura.

Steven Yeun as Jin could work too tho because the dude is pure brilliance.

Don't mind a Keanu cameo too :)

Seriously wonder too if being a movie fits the whole game because IMO an HBO series would be better idea similar with TLOU.

To flesh out even more characters such as Ryuzo, etc. not to mention the Iki island segment along with other reasons.

What approach they're gonna go narrative-wise interests me like are they gonna go 1×1 with the game or a retelling.

As a superfan of both John Wick & Tsushima I trust the creatives to do it justice but of course there's very, very few outlier live-action adaptations us gamers can be proud of (the first Silent Hill is a personal fave of mine).

A Tsushima 2 game announcement alongside the movie's trailer would be cool to see that's for sure tho!

Either way, original vs new, I really think we're in for a fun adaptation.

This will be the trickiest part. I could see a 1 season : 1 act in-game making sense. But for a movie they will definitely have to exclude big chunks like side tales and iki.

Hope they aren't holding out specifically for this reason, if things are ready to be put in motion, but it would definitely be a boost for the movie. Can't wait to see where 2shima goes with it's story...

What ending do you think they will move forward with as canon? First ever playthrough, I chose to spare Shimura then ng+ kill him for the white dye 😁

I think we are going to see an awesome tsushima movie nevertheless but what I was thinking about the second game if they connect the two stories and how the story might actually be and I have a feeling Jin Sakai might not be a main character in the movie, I think it will be more Yuna focused.

Dude honestly if I'd go pick it's got to be the one where Jin SPARED Shimura.

I think it's for twofold reasons:

1. If they indeed get Sanada you want him for the long haul.

2. Just my opinion but I've always view this ending to be the canon one simply because Jin really has no issues with his uncle in the first place but the Mongols & same with Shimura lol

If I'd to take a guess what happens next tho? It's gonna be someone from the Shogunate that assassinates Shimura & then therefore Jin now has a more legit reason to fight them or at least root out the mastermind.

A big advantage is that they already have a strong adaptable story ready, so hopefully there's no radical spins on the plot. 100% agree with you on scope and pacing; that's the big challenge -- action will no doubt be top tier.

100% agree with both you but personally I want a different story but with the same elements just like how LOU series had, something like that. Hopefully action isn’t the entire focus in the whole adaptation.

And given the recent announcement of Yotei IMO Ghost of Tsushima 2 is still possible if Sucker Punch eventually pivots back to Jin's because I wanna fight shogun guys & take their cool armors lol
