Ryzen 7 9800X3D teased in a new leak
The packaging design and initial details on the upcoming gaming CPU from AMD has been revealed by Moore’s Law is Dead.
It appears that AMD’s biggest competitor right now is not the upcoming Intel Core Ultra 200K lineup, but the rumored Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor that AMD is expected to launch soon. AMD has repeatedly proven that 3D V-Cache on Ryzen CPUs can deliver a significant performance boost in gaming, though not in all cases and not on all SKUs. The 8-core variants featuring a single CCD and a single layer of 3D V-Cache remain the best-performing CPUs without changes to how workloads are scheduled between CCDs on higher-end CPUs with more cores.
AMD is now rumored to be launching the Ryzen 7 9800X3D between the end of October and early November. This has been stated by multiple sources, but no exact release date has been confirmed yet. However, we do have alleged marketing materials that AMD is sharing with partners ahead of the launch. Notably, these alleged marketing slide deck does not mention the 9950X3D and 9900X3D launching alongside the 9800X3D, indicating that these SKUs will come later.

AMD is reportedly advertising the new CPU as the “Ultimate Processor for Elite Gaming.” It’s worth noting that this CPU will be released after Intel’s Core Ultra 200K series, so unless AMD is unaware of Intel’s performance, this suggests the 9800X3D will still be superior for gaming.
AMD is also reportedly preparing a game promotion for this launch. It’s possible the CPU will be bundled with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, though this has not yet been confirmed.

Kinda good to see this coming soon as competition heating up Vs Intel's Arrow Lake, would be interesting if 9900X3D & 9950X3D both have their CCDs have stacked cache early next year.
