I've been playing WWE games since the PS1 attitude game (most favourite is HCTP & 2K19) & tho I've never played this game yet, I can for sure say with absolute certainty that Yukes wasn't the one to blame here, at least not only.
I've read before even the game launched that Kenny Omega & Yukes or somebody else have conflict of interest regarding core game features, content, roster, etc.
What I'm saying is that devs have a certain vision & things they wanna do with the game, then guys like Kenny want something else entirely.
Yukes' final game with WWE, their 2K19 version, was across the board generally received positively. Maybe it's WWE & 2K resources or whatever else, but Yukes' pedigree (no pun intended) is undeniable when it comes to wrestling games.
So they shouldn't be at fault alone for the game having lukewarm to bad reviews, etc.
Personally my take is that the game's cartoony artstyle is just
plus those completely unnecessary "mini-games" being quite simply insufferable mess are the top 2 factors of this it's demise.
I could be totally wrong tho, of course, just my opinion on the matter.
