For smaller teams Game pass has probably brought them to an audience that they likely wouldnt have gotten to and probably brought them revenue that they would never have seen. Im yet to find a negative about Game Pass.
Right now im currently playing Frostpunk 2 which came out today. Its a game I would've bought for $60+
Said it in a few posts about game pass, personally there's just too much value in it for me not to have it.
I find it hard who much of return they even get from all this spending lolIt has been mentioned that Microsoft is parting ways with $1 billion a year to bring third-party games onto the Game Pass service.

Yes, basically this. I'm a PC Gamer and i can't believe how Gamepass changed my life of Gamer. I mean, i'm 40, and the time to invest in this hobby is less than before but it remains one of my prefer hobby. Gamepass gives me the unique chance to try different games, often triple AAA, choosing to buy the only ones that impresse me. For example, i finished Starfield with Gamepass and i love the game. Now, i've already bought the First DLC to thank the developers and also because i'm really curious about the Varunn factions. This is just my opinion on this subscription service not only with Game Pass but in general as a whole ie Netflix, etc
For some still (including myself obviously) ownership is a huge thing. These subscription services are basically rental service. So there's that part of the consumers.
For the devs I'd have to guess units sold both physical & digi > whatever game pass deal they agreed to.
Again this is just speculation on my part since I don't have Xbox One or series.
Very interesting tho if this leads to MS changing strategy about this whole thing.
I take back to what I said here and this is also one of the examples how gamepass helps ppl, yk i realized this and I understood outside of corporate spending and etc gamepass is great for players like you and I am happy that you are happy about it.Yes, basically this. I've already bought the Diablo expansion and all of DLC and expansions for the AOE franchise and AOM Retold. The same for Metro and many other games.
Without Gamepass i would have spent a lot of Money trying to find the right games for me.
When MS says that players who play with gamepass are going to spend 50% more than the other ones: it's true.
Losing the "console wars" (i hate this term because everyone should play on the devices he prefers) it gives to XBOX a future game change. Gamepass Is the future: developers are Happy, players are Happy, Xbox Is Happy.
I'm new here and i would like to Say hello to all of you.
It's a beatiful community.
Ciao.
Fun Fact: Twitch has never been profitable. But is gamepass lucrative? If not I really don't understand what Xbox is trying to do from a business perspective. They must be just doubling down on building a foundation of new business tactics in hopes of securing a larger footprint in the gaming industry as a whole.
We dont ever get the numbers we've been told by the lies of Phil Spencer that its profitable so you have to take it as it is and believe it (until you have no reason to). In terms of the business model they will only stick with it for so long if it is indeed losing money. There's no way they will continue to back it if it is losing money year on year. But is gamepass lucrative? If not I really don't understand what Xbox is trying to do from a business perspective. Game Pass is the best consumer thing in the world, but dear god it has been Xbox's biggest mistake for their business. It's devalued their games, allowing you to pick em up day 1 with a cheaper subscription cost. It's become a money pit for them to throw money down to keep titles on Game Pass or get new ones on Game Pass. And it has a cap. Eventually they won't be able to get new people on the service in the numbers that Xbox / Microsoft expects or needs.
I think Sony know that if they push their own version of the service AND offer 1st party games on Day 1 on that service, they'll start seeing diminishing sales returns. One must wonder this is the reason why Sony doesn't push "Playstation Now" as much as it can because they probably foreso this
Or maybe PlayStation brand is strong enough they didn't this stuff?
On somewhat related note didn't Sony-Microsoft deal used to have cloud gaming deal of some sort? Whatever happened to that one lol
I think the best answer to this question is u won’t have any reason to buy Xbox, only use the MS product for Gamepass just like u do it with Netflix and etc, whether it devalues a game will be question on its own bc Idk the games aren’t interesting like Idk if it’s just me but other than very few titles and IPs I don’t even care about MS. In Sony’s case it’s a bit different, everytime the game’s are something to be excited about so I think the devaluation of games from MS has already started long backGame Pass is the best consumer thing in the world, but dear god it has been Xbox's biggest mistake for their business. PlayStation Now is very stupid when it comes to being there as a service since half of the places don’t have it, servers cost a lot to maintain. Cloud Gaming is very stupid imoOne must wonder this is the reason why Sony doesn't push "Playstation Now" as much as it can because they probably foreso this
