Epic Games has revealed a new kind of cosmetic coming to Fortnite – Kicks. As you can imagine, Kicks are shoes, and to welcome this new customisable item, Epic has collaborated with Nike. From November 12, players will be able to purchase in the shop or unlock in the ‘Remix Pass’ an ‘initial lineup’ of Nike and Jordan Kicks.
Fresh Kicks
On November 12, Epic will be introducing Kicks to Fortnite – but they’re not fully compatible across the board just yet. It was revealed by the team that the Kicks feature will be available across 500 ‘of the most popular Fortnite Outfits’ to start with, but there’s a goal to have 95% of all Outfits compatible by Spring 2025.
Here’s the update from the recent blog post:
The initial lineup of Kicks will feature Nike and Jordan brands alongside Fortnite originals. Look out for other brands to join the lineup in the future! Kicks will be compatible with over 500 of the most popular Fortnite Outfits to start, with more than 95% of Outfits compatible by Spring of next year.
While there are a few Outfits that are particularly challenging to style Kicks for, we’re working hard to make sure that as many Outfits as possible can throw on a fresh pair.
This collaboration means that users rocking everything from a John Wick to a Thanos skin will be able to soar around the map while sporting a fresh pair of Jordans.
This is just the beginning for the new customisable item range. Epic also showcased the ‘Fortnite Original Kicks’, non-branded items that serve as a throwback to days gone by.
While the Fortnite Kicks cosmetic is starting with Nike, there’s no end to the number of brands that Epic could partner with to bolster the collection.
