Rafael Grassetti, the former art director on God of War and God of War: Ragnarök, has joined Naughty Dog. Grassetti made the announcement himself on social media on Monday morning.
The moves come as Grassetti left his position as art director at Netflix back in October. Grassetti was at Netflix “building a brand-new studio and a AAA multiplatform game”, but was only there for a little more than a year. His departure lined up with the closure of Netflix’s game studio, known as Team Blue, which also happened in October.
Prior to working at Netflix, Grassetti spent nearly 11 years at Sony. During that time, he worked on the aforementioned God of War series as art director. He also worked on games such as Killzone: Shadow Fall, Infamous: Second Son, and The Order: 1886.
In his announcement, Grassetti didn’t give any idea of what he was working on at Naughty Dog. All that he posted was a message that reads, “new chapter”. It could be assumed, however, that he joined Naughty Dog to work on their next game. Speaking of Naughty Dog’s next game, it was also revealed that Troy Baker “will return” in some form.
“In a heartbeat I would always work with Troy,” Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann said.
