The popular Counter-Strike pro, Oleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyljev, has been toying with CS2 fans for months now on whether or not he will return to the competitive scene. The former NAVI player took a step back from competitive when Valve decided to introduce CS2 into the competition, which was quite a controversial change.
Now, the competitor has officially made a statement on whether he plans to return or not.
S1mple Breaks Silence On Return To Competitive Counter-Strike
After NAVI’s successful run at the Esports World Cup, many fans had begun to speculate whether or not s1mple would make his return. With a successful major LAN event taking place, people started to hope the tournament would bring the professional competitor back.
“There are things that are hard to talk about but the motivation never faded,” said s1mple on his official Telegram account following IEM Cologne. “I’m genuinely very happy with how the guys are playing, but sometimes they lack professional egoism, and that frustrates me.”
The 26-year-old Counter-Strike pro then expressed his need to get back out there.
“I hope to return someday, I’m tired of doing nothing. And when I come back, I’ll definitely be stronger – it’s just a matter of time.”
The player has been competing in Counter-Strike for the team since 2016. So, will we hopefully see s1mple return as a professional player soon? Or will he continue to push his homecoming back?
