Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi said they could consider moving to Unreal Engine 5 for the final instalment in the series. However, the decision will be based on multiple factors.
During an interview with CG World (via Genki), Hamaguchi was asked if they were considering upgrading to Unreal Engine 5 for the next instalment in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series. The director responded that the team will “assess the pros and cons of the engine,” but he believes it is “possible.” He further explained that the decision is “similar to considering whether to switch from SVN to Perforce.”
Hamaguchi elaborated by saying that Final Fantasy 7 fans currently want the team “to deliver the final game in the series in good form as soon as possible.” He mentioned that the team will “objectively” consider whether changing the environment will speed up the process or whether it’s best to develop everything in one go as it is.
In a previous interview, Hamaguchi mentioned that they were also considering moving from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 for the previous Final Fantasy 7 Remake games. However, they scrapped that decision as many tools had not yet been developed for UE 5.
In other news, Nvidia’s latest driver included a Game Ready Profile for Final Fantasy 16. Also, the Final Fantasy 14 director confirmed they are not involved in an FF 9 Remake. Where is Kingdom Hearts 4 and Missing Link?! They’re updating this flop of a game before that what is going on?!!!!! Besides didn’t that Square boot licker Maximilian say that if they upgraded to UE5 it would take even longer?
Rebirth flopped and so did 16 why do this why are they talking about this but Missing Link and Kingdom Hearts 4 have had no update in years what is going on?! Square stock is at a low and instead of showing the game that could do better they just update on the sequel to flops.
Part 2 was a flop why are they still making this game? I’m starting to assume Final Fantasy is the problem at Square Enix all the games they put out were flops Stranger In Paradise, 16, and 7 Part 2 meanwhile other games like Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts are in development hell it’s clear they’re moving all the staff to make 7 despite it not selling well and hurting the chances other games have at doing better I don’t know why? It’s not just AAA games even the Kingdom Hearts mobile game is in development hell somehow and never released its beta set for 2022 with no update in sight. Kingdom Hearts 4 had gameplay shown but nothing since 2022 meanwhile 7 Part 3 hasn’t shown anything yet and that’s moving along fine? Something weird is going on if that game flops too will Square just shut down or sell off because it seems they’re banking everything on 7 Part 3 now.

Final Fantasy 16 and 7 Rebirth both underperformed and have exclusivity clauses meanwhile Kingdom Hearts has none and the game is a top seller on Steam why not talk about Kingdom Hearts 4 and Missing Link? Why not make more Kingdom Hearts games or Verum Rex? It’s weird they’re talking about this game already but still silent on Kingdom Hearts even weirder since Rebirth didn’t do well.
Max and the other influencers are why studios are doing so bad. Netherrealm is probably going to close because of him and said people, Square Enix isn’t far behind because he pretends 7 remake is some amazing title which it’s not same with Mortal Kombat 1. If Capcom closes next I wonder what he does because he has nothing else to do he hates most modern games, anime, and Gen Z apparently and being an asshole won’t help. If Unreal 5 was so great Kingdom Hearts 4 would be out by now watch Max lie and say the opposite now for the next game in the remake trilogy.
Why won’t they talk about other games? Kingdom Hearts 4 was revealed in 2022, Rebirth came out this year and more news for the next game in that series is available meanwhile nothing on Kingdom Hearts 4 or even worse Missing Link which is a mobile game. Dragon Quest 12 I heard had problems and weirder so did Missing Link something really weird is going on at Square and with the way things are going don’t be surprised they close down or sell off.
Something weird is going on with certain games and companies Kingdom Hearts 4 is one of them, most of Sony’s studios is another and PS5 Pro, Arc System Works next game, Nintendo Switch 2, Ubisoft delays, it’s all really weird normally when things get this bad they fire the higher ups and bring in new people at Sony they fired Jim Ryan but the same problem is there. It feels like the industry is going to die as is.
Forget this game where is KH4 and missing link?! Honestly shareholders should demand an investigation at this point.
Where is Kingdom Hearts 4? Why are we talking about 7 Part 3 when Kingdom Hearts 4 was shown in 2022 but had no update since then and weirder it was a gameplay trailer not a cgi teaser or just logo reveal so why isn’t that game ready yet?
Why is Kingdom Hearts taking so long 4 years have passed since ReMind why is that taking so long Nomura said they were making 4 and ReMind around the same time. Is Nomura making Verum Rex/ Versus XIII instead I’d welcome that instead but show it already.
He’s coping he’s lying claiming that’s not the case and this is a PR stunt even though the game flopped which he still refuses to believe. It makes no sense also bro still doesn’t realize Rebirth is exclusive to PS5 for a year then will hit EGS in 2025 probably late 2025 and maybe Steam in 2026. No one wanted this game except him. There is no sense in making another because it will sell worse than Rebirth.
So…….Kingdom Hearts news when? It’s weird they keep talking about this game and pretend Kingdom Hearts doesn’t exist why show the game and go ghost same with Missing Link which is more suspect brute struggling with a mobile game? Meanwhile the AAA sequel to a game that just released this year has updates like every 2 weeks it makes no sense.
