During a new interview via Eurogamer, Final Fantasy 14 director and producer Naoki Yoshida offered new comments about the latest Xbox release and plans for future titles.
Yoshida, who fans may recognize as Yoshi-P, revealed that “we’ve seen a really strong response on Xbox” following Final Fantasy 14’s release on the platform.
They also mentioned that Phil Spencer “put in a lot of hard work into making it a reality.” So, Yoshida says that “we would like to make the best of that and further deepen the relationship with Xbox gamers moving forward.”
Yoshida said they consider Final Fantasy 14 to be just the starting point. They concluded that “we do want to release more Square Enix games on Xbox, and there will be more of our titles released on Xbox.”
Yoshida also addressed the Xbox market in Japan, as a general argument. They explained that “in the Japanese market there is an extremely low number of users on Xbox.” They added that developers in any country may want to focus on appealing to fans in their own country.
Last June, Yoshida also denied recent rumors that they have any involvement in a Final Fantasy 9 remake.
Most recently, fans of the Final Fantasy series learned this week that Final Fantasy 16 is coming to PC via Steam and EGS in September 2024.
