It was a long time coming, but the (surprise) release date for Fallout: London has finally arrived, with the team having confirmed that today, July 25, will see the launch of this game-sized mod. Following several years of development that saw issues come and go, celebrities lend their voices to the project, and countless developer blogs get published online, the day has finally come around.
Today, you will be able to play Fallout: London.
Years in the Making
In a quote picked up by Inverse, the FOLON team said that Fallout: London will be released today ‘unless nuclear war happens’. While there’s always a chance of that, it looks unlikely (he says, glancing out of the window). Therefore, after years of waiting and several pushbacks – the most major of which was caused by the Fallout 4 next-gen update – Fallout: London is about to be listed for download.
This free, super-sized mod comes with a caveat or two, though. Firstly, you’ll need to downgrade your Fallout 4 next-gen update to play it, but don’t worry, the mod has a feature that does that automatically. Also, it’s a beast of a mod – we don’t have the confirmed size, but it’s expected to be more than 30 GB in total.
For the hardcore Fallout fans, Fallout: London is a lore-breaking mod, but it’s an intriguing one. Almost a decade after Fallout 4 was released, Fallout: London offers one of the broadest reimaginations of the universe we’ve ever seen, boasting a fully-voiced cast, a massive open-world map of London, new factions, an immersive story, and much more.
It’ll only be available for PC players, but there are whispers that the team wants Bethesda’s help to bring the mod to Xbox. For now, it’s going to be made downloadable through GOG – but the link isn’t available just yet.
