Following several years of development, trailers, and dev updates, Fallout: London, the super-sized mod, is assumedly mere weeks away from being released. It’s in the final testing stages now, and fans are preparing to get involved with the game-sized mod that has taken years to be put together. Many thought it would never arrive following an indefinite delay issued in April as a result of the Fallout 4 next-gen upgrade, but now, we’re closer than ever.
However, in a recent interview, the development team admitted that if the mod fails to launch well, they’ll ‘vanish from society’.
Fail and Flee
Fallout: London is an ambitious mod – even if it does play fast and loose with the established lore of the Fallout universe. Over the last few years, more than 100 developers of all shapes and sizes have worked on the mod, which will be more than 30 GB in size when it’s eventually released on GOG.
It might be a huge deliverable backed by solid investments and hundreds – if not thousands – of hours of development, but many have spent the last few months believing it would never be released.
Speaking to Metro recently, the FOLON project lead, Dean Carter, said what’ll happen if Fallout: London is a flop:
If it’s an awful launch then we’ll probably all just go to sleep, and vanish from society.
He also mentioned what the plan is post-launch, suggesting that the core team will move into indie development and create their own games rather than piggybacking off Fallout 4 and simply creating mods.
