It’s the upcoming sequel to developer 1047 Games’ 2019 free-to-play shooter. The sequel appears brimming with color, new mechanics, enhanced gameplay, and more of what people love from the arena shooter genre. Here’s everything we know about Splitgate 2 currently!
What is Splitgate 2?
Splitgate 2 is a free-to-play, multiplayer first-person shooter with 4v4 round-based gameplay. Players will select a faction, customize their weapons, and learn to wield portal skills to help dominate the battlefield and control lanes across the arena. It’s meant as a fast-paced, frantic experience, with enemies popping through portals above, beside, and behind you at every angle. You must think quickly and fire faster to survive the enemy team’s onslaught.
It’s most reminiscent of Overwatch and XDefiant, albeit with a multidimensional twist!

When Can You Play Splitgate 2?
Currently, we only have a release window of 2025 for Splitgate 2. When asked for further clarification, the studio says, “There are 12 months in 2025. Splitgate 2 will be released in one of them.” As such, it’s completely up in the air when the game launches worldwide.
Is Splitgate 2 Free to Play?
Like its predecessor, which launched in May 2019, Splitgate 2 will be a completely free-to-play game focused on competitive arena-based multiplayer matches. It will not include a single-player campaign. It’s meant as a fast-paced F2P first-person shooter for those who enjoy Twitch gameplay and frantic round-based matches.
