I’m among the many who enjoy having their video game collection in one spot. Like many of you, that spot is Steam. It’s home to nearly every title I could ever want, and my library is growing monthly, but there’s one game I still have high hopes will wind up on the digital platform: Escape From Tarkov. Is Escape From Tarkov ever coming to Steam?
Can You Play Escape From Tarkov on Steam?
There’s no official word on when Escape From Tarkov will be coming to Steam. Previously, developer Battlestate Games revealed they may launch the game once it goes into full release or 1.0, but no one knows for sure when that will happen.
There’s a running meme in the community that it’ll never happen primarily because they can’t finish Escape From Tarkov. I think it will, perhaps next year or the year after, but shortly. Battlestate can’t work on Tarkov forever, as they likely have other projects to consider.
If you simply cannot wait to play Escape From Tarkov on Steam, you could always add it to your library as a non-Steam game. To do that:
- Open Steam and select Games from the top-most menu.
- Choose Add Non-Steam Game to Library.
- Search for Escape From Tarkov on your computer.
- Add Selected Program
Now, you can play Escape From Tarkov with some of the functionality of Steam’s community features.

How Often Does Escape From Tarkov Wipe?
As the game remains in active development, it’s common for the occasional wipe to erase all current progress and leave every player on equal footing for a day or two. This wipe cycle typically happens every six months, give or take, with some taking longer and a few taking significantly less time between wipe hype.
As of this writing, we’re about to come up on another wipe day. It should occur extremely soon, with everyone expecting a Thursday wipe this time.
Whether you’re just diving into Escape From Tarkov or returning for more punishment, learning how to unlock Ref will help you in the long run!
