Hold the phone on the sale of 4A Games and Zen Studios by Embracer Group. Embracer announced on Friday that the proposed sale of the developers of Metro and Pinball have been cancelled.
The two studios had been included as optional purchases in the $247 million sale of Saber Interactive to take the studio independent. Instead, however, the company received a $168.4 million payment to settle the transaction with Saber, and keeping the studios in house.
“We are satisfied with the conclusion of this transaction and very glad to see the great teams and assets of 4A Games and Zen Studios remain within Embracer,” Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors said via release.
“They will be important building blocks in our continued journey.”
Wingefors added that 4A Games has two AAA titles currently in development. He also congratulated Saber Interactive on their recent launch of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which has seen immediate success.
