Bethesda Game Studios has just announced that The Elder Scrolls: Castles will be released worldwide on September 10. This mobile-only game comes from the team that made Fallout Shelter, the overwhelmingly successful micro-title set at the heart of the Fallout universe.
Last year, Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls: Castles in limited markets but is now preparing to roll the game out globally.
The Elder Scrolls, But Smaller
The Elder Scrolls: Castles is the first ‘new game’ in the TES universe since Elder Scrolls Online was released in 2014. As players wait patiently (mostly) for The Elder Scrolls 6, Castles will form a lovely stop-gap, even if it is ‘just’ a mobile game.
It follows a similar structure to Fallout Shelter, with players creating a castle made up of multiple rooms and functions, ultimately ruling a kingdom that’s instantly recognisable as being set in The Elder Scrolls universe. They’ll take on quests, manage their resources, and ensure that their people are kept happy, fed, and protected.
This goes a little bit beyond Fallout Shelter, with the team at BGS giving players the ability to create ‘hero-style’ characters with high-tier equipment, sending them out to fight a range of creatures from the wider universe.
On September 10, The Elder Scrolls: Castles will be released worldwide, but for now, you can pre-register to get access as soon as it’s available.
