Elden Ring is a major sales success for Bandai Namco. The Japanese company announced on Wednesday that the latest title from From Software has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide.
The total comes from both physical copy shipments as well as digital purchases.
“The companies would like to thank everyone who has played this game from the bottom
of their hearts, and will continue to develop various ways for the fans to enjoy the world of Elden Ring in the future,” the statement announcing the sales reads.
Elden Ring’s latest content update came back in December in the form of opening Colosseums. The Colosseums offer players a place for PvP battles in the form of free-for-alls, duels, and even team battles.
The Future Of Elden Ring
Overall player response to the game since its February 2022 launch has been nothing short of positive. On Steam alone, the game reached a maximum concurrent player base of over 950,000 just after its launch. The game even won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2022.
Of course, there are still rumors that a DLC expansion is set to come for the game, but nothing has been confirmed on that front. That said, with the statement mentioning developing “various ways for the fans to enjoy the world of Elden Ring in the future”, it could be assumed that the team is working on new content for the game. With the game’s one-year anniversary just days away, there might not be a better time to announce it than then.
Insider Gaming has reached out to Bandai Namco about any future updates to the game. This story will be updated should a response be received.
