EA Sports, Nike Agree To Deal That Will Bring NFTs To EA Sports Games

Electronic Arts and Nike have reached a deal that will see Nike NFTs make their way into future EA Sports games. The “virtual assets” will be created by Nike’s Web3 marketplace platform .Swoosh.

“Nike’s new partnership with EA Sports will look to build new immersive experiences and unlock brand new levels of customization within the EA Sports ecosystem,” Nike said in a press release. “In future EA Sports titles, EA Sports and Nike plan to make select .Swoosh virtual creations available allowing members and players unique new opportunities for self-expression and creativity through sport and style.”

According to the announcement, this partnership states that EA Sports will utilize it to build what it calls “new immersive experiences”. It also claims that it will allow new levels of in-game customization for players within EA Sports titles.

“All of us at EA Sports are focused on leading the next evolution in sports fandom, and this new collaboration with our longtime partners at Nike sits directly at the intersection of innovation, sport, and culture,” Andrea Hopelain, EA’s SVP of brand for EA Sports and Racing, said in the release.

“Working with .Swoosh, we’ll bring creativity and self-expression to the forefront for fans as they connect, compete, and share their love for sport.”

No specific games were mentioned in the announcement. It also doesn’t specifically mention NFTs, but with the platform, it’s clear that’s where things appear to be heading.

Nike says that more details on how this integration will work will be made public in the coming months.
