It was only recently that developer Mithril Interactive announced full free-to-play for Dungeonborne. Previously, we all thought it was planned as a retail game with a price tag barring entry. But that changed. And with it, the game’s monetization. So, does Dungeonborne have microtransactions?
Are There Microtransactions in Dungeonborne?
Yes, there are multiple microtransactions in Dungeonborne. Currently, the list is quite limited, though. You can buy a handful of cosmetic items that do not alter gameplay. You can also purchase access to the game’s auction house, but only if you wish to list items for sale. Thankfully, anyone can use the auction house to buy items without paying for access.
As of this writing, shortly after the game’s launch, the available microtransactions in Dungeonborne include:
- Demon Eye Torch
- Blasphemous Horns
- Demon Hunter’s Swords
- Kree War Horn
- Trendy Beverage
- Demon Hunter Oil
These items are all purely cosmetic. They don’t affect gameplay whatsoever. As the game is first-person, you likely won’t see any of these cosmetics besides the Trendy Beverage and Demon Hunter Oil, which reskin your potions.
However, there’s also the fact that Mithril Interactive is selling a supporter’s DLC bundle, in the form of the Mithril Satchel for $9.99 on Steam, which includes two cosmetics and a handful of potions that could quickly turn the tide of a combat encounter.

Is Dungeonborne Pay to Win?
As of right now, Dungeonborne is only slightly pay-to-win. The Mithril Satchel, the game’s first and currently only DLC, offers two cosmetic items that do not alter gameplay. But it also includes:
- x15 Bandages
- x15 Healing Potions
- x3 Throwable Flasks
These items do provide an advantage in the dungeons. During a combat encounter, a player with the Mithril Satchel can easily heal more frequently than a player without the DLC. Furthermore, the Throwable Flasks include damage-dealing concoctions, similar to Molotovs, which can quickly shut down PvP.
