Doug Cockle is making a bold return to the role of Geralt of Rivia in an all-new Witcher animated series that’s slated to drop on Netflix late in 2024. Cockle totes an iconic voice and is instantly recognisable as the white-haired legend that is Geralt, and has provided his acting talents for the character since 2007’s The Witcher.
Back in the Saddle
Doug Cockle hasn’t lent his voice to Geralt of Rivia since the release of Blood and Wine (DLC) in 2016. In a short, one-minute trailer that was released by Netflix, it was revealed that he’ll be taking centre-stage to play the gruff, capable character in The Witcher: Sirens of The Deep, which airs exclusively on Netflix late next year.
Here’s the trailer:
It doesn’t give a lot away, but it looks brilliant, and the combat scenes teased in the short trailer look impressive and authentic. I’m personally hoping it’s Cockle’s best performance yet as The White Wolf. His delivery in The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt will be hard to beat, though.
Cockle’s Geralt is up there with Solid Snake, Mario, Ezio, and Kratos when it comes to being instantly recognisable as the voice of a character.
