Destiny 2 Developers Address Future Of The Game

Since Bungie announced sweeping changes to the studio and Sony’s comments on the state of the studio, many have wondered what the future holds for Destiny 2 as a game.

There have been reports of Bungie no longer planning paid annual expansions in order to focus on smaller, regular updates. There was also talk of Destiny 3 being in development which was later found to not be the case.

In a series of posts on Twitter on Thursday, the Destiny 2 developer team addressed the game’s future.

“We know that recent changes at Bungie have created uncertainty surrounding the future of Destiny,” they said. “Rest assured we remain committed to Destiny, to supporting our community with transparency, and to delivering regular updates about the game.

“We’ll be talking with you all about the future of Destiny and plans for our next multi-year journey soon. Once we plant a flag for the date, we’ll let you all know. Thank you for your patience, and we’ll see you again soon.”

While it likely won’t do much to calm the nerves of worried players, it still seems as though the team is remaining loyal to the game, for now.

  • Shut down Bungie no one was playing Destiny 2 Sony and the fanboys pretended the game was massive under 900,000 players is not massive or worth $3 billion.

  • The game has kind of run it’s course IMO. It started a little rocky but was an overall excellent game. The push to keep players constantly engaged has transformed it into a tediously boring chore. I was happy for the last DLC and final story arc, but I’m done. The new “acts” are just superficial visual updates with the same regurgitated content… again.

I was a beta player on Xbox and truly don’t regret all the hours spent playing, but unless there is some new format for a D3, it will be a hard pass as well.

  • How about giving us all the old dlc back some of us have never played and I am sure some players would live the chance to go back and try and get that one exotic that they missed

  • The game spanned literally 10 years so I think it has also run its course now that we have gotten to the end….? Besides confronting the Winnower. Other than that it has been a good decade spent playing this game but I think now is time to refresh the playing field

  • Maby they can give us all the vaulted content back?
That would make it for me and a lot of other players worth wile.
And ofcourse i hope the game wil have a future, maby little in the beginning and who knows after.
After all its after almost 10 years yes 10 years of my life and a lot of othets a fun part of our life.
Goodluck i wish the destiny team.
    And thanks
