Good news, Xbox fans – the December Games with Gold lineup has just been revealed, with the first game dropping on December 1st. There are two titles coming to Xbox Live Gold members, and this month, there’s a focus on 2D action.
December’s offering is more or less on par with November’s, a relatively simple affair. Last month, players were granted access to Praetorians HD Remaster and Dead End Job, two dramatically different titles that boasted an overall value similar to the December Games with Gold collection.
What’s Coming in December Games with Gold?
Firstly, available from December 1st to the 31st, is Colt Canyon, a 2D pixel art shooter with charming graphics and a dramatic story. Then, from December 16th, players will be able to download Bladed Fury, a 2D action game based on Chinese mythology.
These are both indie titles, which is typically the norm for Games with Gold these days. One of the last ‘bigger budget’ titles to wind up on Games with Gold was Darksiders III, which was added in August 2021. Before that, were rewarded with games like Gears 5, Dead Rising, and Resident Evil.
Regardless, free is free, and for 2D indie game aficionados, December brings a great payday. If you’re an achievement hunter, there’s a cool 2000 gamerscore up for grabs, and if you’ve been thinking about picking these games up anyway, you’ll be saving approximately $35 through Games with Gold.
Xbox in December
There’s a lot happening in December within the Xbox ecosystem. On December 6th, Hello Neighbor 2 comes to Game Pass, and on December 13th, the quirky and somewhat trippy High on Life launches exclusively on Xbox platforms.
One of the most highly anticipated titles in December, The Callisto Protocol, is launching, and it’s optimised for Xbox Series X|S consoles. It won’t be on Game Pass, but it’s a highly anticipated title nonetheless.
