Death Stranding 2 Only “30-40%” Complete Says Hideo Kojima

Hideo Kojima says that Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is only about “30%-40%” complete.

In an appearance at Tokyo Game Show, Kojima talked about the franchise, including where things stand with the upcoming sequel. He told the gathered crowd that the game isn’t halfway done, but didn’t show much concern about it.

Some of the work that needed to be done (h/t IGN) includes re-recording all of the dialogue for the game in Japanese for localization.

He then reiterated that the game will still release in 2025 as planned.

“I haven’t said the release date today, but the release date has already been decided, and I’m currently working on it in preparation for that,” he said

He added that while the date will be announced next year, “unforeseen circumstances” prevent them from revealing it sooner.

First revealed at The Game Awards 2022, Death Stranding 2 is the sequel to the 2019 original. The game will once again star Norman Reedus as Sam Porter Bridges along with Lea Seydoux as Fragile and Troy Baker as Higgs Monaghan. The game will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5.

Do you think Death Stranding 2: On The Beach hits its 2025 release window despite Hideo Kojima saying the game is only 30-40% complete?? Join the discussion in the Insider Gaming Forums.
