Deadlock was the top game on Steam in monthly active users (MAU) for the month of August. This according to the latest information released by Circana via Mat Piscatella.
Despite people knowing of its existence and over 18,000 people playing it, Deadlock wasn’t officially revealed by Valve until late in the month. Since then, the game has seen peaks of over 170,000 concurrent players while being an invite-only alpha.

As of writing, the game remains invite-only averaging more than 91,000 players at a given time. There’s also been no official announcement regarding the game opening up to more players or entering a beta stage.
What is Deadlock?
For those who are unaware, Deadlock is a 6v6 team-based hero shooter. In a broader sense, the game is a MOBA similar to the likes of DOTA 2, Smite, and League of Legends. There are four lanes for teams to attack with creeps that drop souls you then use to upgrade your hero throughout the match.
The game currently features 19 heroes to choose from. All of them have different abilities ranging from being a healer to an assassin to a tank. All things expected in a MOBA.
