Conan the Barbarian Joins Mortal Kombat 1 in January 2025

It has been officially announced that Conan the Barbarian will join Mortal Kombat 1 on January 21, 2025.

The announcement came from Ed Boon on X (formerly Twitter), which showed a brief snippet of Conan the Barbarian in action.

According to leakers, Conan the Barbarian and T-1000 from Terminator 2 are some of the last characters to be coming to the Mortal Kombat 1 roster. Rumors suggest that Kombat Pack 3 and the second-story expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 have since been canceled due to poor expansion sales. Several Mortal Kombat insiders have since corroborated the claims since the original rumor.

Insider Gaming has contacted NetherRealm Studios for comment on the claims.

Will you be playing Conan the Barbarian in Mortal Kombat 1 on January 21, 2025?

  • Instead of this Ed Boon should honor his promises and finally make a new Def Jam game. No one wants this trash to continue deliver on a new game now.

  • They’re just dragging this thing out. It’s better if they make a new game or announce it now. The silence from MK11 to MK1 was bad just being vague and Ed’s Twitter didn’t help things now this it’s just not good. Making another MK is not the move and it’s been too long since IJ2 for another game and people are tired of the warped takes on superheroes. Make a new DC fighting game not Injustice and maybe go 3D instead of 2D. A Wildstorm game would be good too

  • This isn’t going to help the game it’s better they move on now. This looks really bad too and why use Arnold if he didn’t reprise a 2nd time? Ed give us Def Jam made in UE5 you’ve been teasing it for too long.

  • This game being a flop is Ed Boon’s fault. Ed is the one who chose the guest characters and chose to skip Injustice for his MCU Mortal Kombat game. You can blame Warner for corporate greed but they don’t care about things like kameos or the story they just want money and they wouldn’t want to pay for other characters the guest characters outside Peacemaker are not owned by Warner. Not to mention they’d make more money if Mortal Kombat was T rated and catered to the international market instead but they don’t. The gaming division does its own thing and Ed is the problem with Netherrealm over at other studios it’s other people.

  • Colin Moriarty heard Travis Scott was supposed to be in this game what happened to that and who was he going to be? Once again more reason why they should just make a new Def Jam game.

  • This game I bet isn’t making its money back with all the guests and celebrity likenesses and some cases of celeb voice work not to mention how long it took to make and it’s in UE4 not 5. Netherrealm needs to be closed down and the next DC games should be outsourced for instance the next “fighting game” should be a cel shaded arena/3D fighter using the Jeff Matsuda and Glen Murakami designs with David Slack writing the story either Eighting or Arc System Works should make it.

  • They should remake Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon in Unreal 5 no censorship crap and sexy women in the game the problem is they’d mess that up. The only thing they may need to add is a single player story mode like the current games for current players to follow. But knowing Netherrealm they’d mess that up and I can’t think of anyone else who could do it. Iron Galaxy I think is trash since Killer Instinct 2013 under them looked like ass.
