As someone who claims Diablo 4 as one of my favorite games, I’ll be the first to tell you that getting through the campaign is an absolute slog. It takes so long and drags on in spots, but it’s worthwhile to complete at least once. Sometimes, you want to dive into the new season’s content without worrying about a storyline. So, do you have to complete the campaign in Diablo 4 before starting the new season? Here’s what you need to know!
Do You Have to Complete the Campaign in Diablo 4?
No, you do not need to finish the campaign in Diablo 4 before beginning the new season. In the past, you were forced to complete the entire campaign on a single character, and then you could skip the story during character creation. However, Blizzard has streamlined the process to highlight the new mechanics in seasonal content. As such, you must finish the game’s prologue up until the point where Lorath leaves Kyovashad, and then you can skip the campaign during character creation.
That said, you won’t receive your horse until level 25 unless you previously finished the campaign and unlocked the quest!
How to Skip the Campaign in Diablo 4
During character creation, once you’re finished designing your character to your liking, the final choice before entering the game includes a variety of Gameplay Options. In this context, the most important is the ‘Skip Campaign’ choice, which is a permanent decision that bypasses the story mode and allows you to start in Kyovashad at level one. Ensure that the box is ticked if you want to jump straight into the new season!

How Many Diablo 4 Acts Are in the Campaign?
In all, the Diablo 4 campaign includes six acts, along with a prologue and an epilogue. Each act varies in length, so don’t expect to fly through all of them simply because the last act you completed was short. Some of them prove rather long and taxing.
- Prologue – Wandering
- Act 1 – A Cold and Iron Faith
- Act 2 – The Knife Twists Again
- Act 3 – The Making of Monsters
- Act 4 – A Gathering Storm
- Act 5 – Secrets Bartered, Fates Sold
- Act 6 – Dance of the Makers
- Epilogue – From the Wound Spilled
