Civilization VII Gameplay Trailer Coming August 20

As Gamescom kicks off in Cologne later this month, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII will be revealed in much greater depth, with the team at Firaxis showing off 20 minutes of gameplay in a deep-dive breakdown. It has only been a few weeks since Civ VII was announced, but the team is eager to debut a lengthy gameplay trailer at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live ceremony to stoke the hype train a little more.

But That’s Not All

The Firaxis team also confirmed that Civilization VII will be playable during the week that Gamescom is hosted in Cologne. From August 21 to 25, attendees will be able to give the game a try.

As Insider Gaming will be on-site at Gamescom, you can bet your last dollar we’ll be giving the game a go.

Here’s a blurb from Firaxis talking about the upcoming release of the gameplay trailer:

Civilization is a game that is as wide as it is deep, covering the span of human history as you build your empire piece by piece in the attempt to stand the test of time. We know many of you love getting into the details, and we do too – that’s why we’re going all-out for the gameplay reveal coming later this month.

Following Gamescom, Civilization VII will head to PAX West in Seattle, complete with a full-fledged developer panel breaking down everything you need to know about the game. If you’re not already in the know, Civilization is one of the oldest strategy-slash-city-building franchises in existence – and one of the longest-running video game series still going today. It debuted in 1991 and is still going strong as we speak.

Put that in your calendar – on August 20, all will be revealed.
