Certain Affinity has Been Acquired by Keywords Studios

Keywords Studios has acquired Certain Affinity.

The news comes courtesy of GI.biz, which says that Keywords Studios acquired Certain Affinity for an undisclosed sum. The report reveals that the acquisition is subject to losing conditions and includes an upfront cash purchase and an earn-out component based on Certain Affinity’s performance.

Certain Affinity will be Keywords Studios’ acquisition this year after it also purchased Wushu Studios in August.

Certain Affinity was first founded in 2006 by former Bungie employees and has since seen the studio work on games, including Call of Duty, Halo, Hogwarts Legacy, and more. Just this week, a former Certain Affinity developer claimed that the studio’s Halo Battle Royale “could have been a game changer.”

Certain Affinity was once also developing a Transformers game, which moved over to Splash Damage after a turbulent development.

“At this most difficult time in the market, we’re thrilled to be able to provide stability and a supportive home for our team,” said Hoberman in a statement. “The respect for our talent and culture that Keywords has shown, along with a willingness to invest in our growth, is unparalleled.

“Paul and I look forward to partnering with them to chart a course for careful expansion of our core co-development activities, refinement of our lead development capabilities, as well as championing the growth of the Create division.”
