BOOM Esports Drops Entire Dota 2 Roster

It is a sad day for BOOM Esports fans, as the popular gaming organization has officially announced they will be dropping their entire Dota 2 roster. The popular Southeast Asian team will no longer be competing in Dota 2 amidst their failure to qualify for The International 2024.

BOOM Esports Will No Longer Compete In Dota 2; Drops Entire Roster

Following the team’s massive Dota 2 success back in 2022, where they placed well during The International 2022, the team has struggled to continue with victories as such. Many, who loved and cheered for BOOM Esports during those days, were saddened to hear the news of the organization dropping the entire roster.

“We’re changing our Dota 2 roster from active to inactive and allowed all of our players to search for new opportunities,” said BOOM Esports on Twitter (August 14, 2024).

The five-player team still plans to compete under a new name, Team Waska.

The team posted on Twitter earlier today, stating they will look for new representation going into the next Dota 2 season.

Every Player On Team Waska:

  • ParkerDota2
  • DarkMago
  • Sacredota
  • MatthewDotaaa
  • Yadomi

Hopefully, the team will be able to find a new home following their departure from BOOM Esports.

Will BOOM Esports Compete In The 2025 Dota Season?

Whether or not BOOM Esports will compete next year in the 2025 Dota 2 season is unknown. While this could just be a complete overhaul to their Dota 2 roster, it could also mean they will no longer pursue competition within the popular MOBA.

As the year progresses, fans will have to wait in anticipation on whether the popular esports team dives back into the Dota scene, or if they have quit the game for good.
