Black Ops 6 Season 1: Release date, maps, Ranked Play & more

Black Ops 6 Season 1 brings a fresh content drop to the Call of Duty title, as well as a huge integration for the Warzone battle royale. After players have dug their teeth into launch content, Treyarch are ready to get their post-launch live-service updates underway, with new maps, game modes, guns, and more.

Here’s everything you need to know about Black Ops 6 Season 1, from the release date to all the confirmed new maps and modes.

When does Black Ops 6 Season 1 update come out?

The Season 1 update for BO6 arrives on November 14, 2024, at around 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT. Treyarch have officially confirmed this date and the time is based off previous Call of Duty season launches.

The update will introduce a bunch of new content for Multiplayer and Warzone, as well as a variety of changes such as balancing for weapons, bug fixes, and more.

Black Ops 6 Season 1 new maps

There will be six new maps for Black Ops 6 Season 1: Hideout, Extraction, Heirloom, Hacienda, Racket, and Nuketown Holiday.

Hideout and Extraction are both 6v6 maps, while Heirloom is more of a Face Off map built for 6v6 and 2v2 Gunfight. Hacienda is also a 6v6 map from Black Ops 5. Racket is a small map for 2v2 or 6v6 play. Nuketown Holiday is a winter-themed variant for the popular map.

Hideout, Extraction, and Heirloom will be available at launch while the other three will come mid-season.

New game modes

Black Ops 6 Season 1 will bring some new game modes to Multiplayer.

Ranked Play arrives

Treyarch have confirmed that Ranked Play will arrive in Black Ops 6 Season 1, allowing players to get their competitive hats on and test themselves against similarly skilled players. Check out our guide on Black Ops 6 Ranked Play for a full breakdown on how the mode will work.

Ransack

Coming at launch is a new Ransack mode that has you loot gold bars from crates located in different areas throughout the map. This is a 6v6 mode.

Prop Hunt

Coming sometime during Season 1, Prop Hunt is the returning game of hide-and-seek.

Limited Time Modes

Various Limited Time Modes will be announced and added throughout the season, with a full reveal for Season 1 Reloaded.

Are there any new guns in Black Ops 6 Season 1?

There will be seven new weapons added to Black Ops 6 in Season 1. Of the weapons, there are four Primary Weapons, One Secondary, and Two Melee.

Primary Weapons

  • Krig C – Coming at launch, this Assault Rifle will be available as a Battle Pass reward
  • Saug – An SMG, the Saug will also be available via the Battle Pass at launch
  • Maelstrom – This shotgun will be available mid-season as an event reward. It has a magazine size of 10.
  • AMR Mod 4 – Coming mid-season, this sniper rifle will also be an event reward. It’s a semi-auto rifle with a magazine size of four.

Secondary Weapons

  • Sirin 9mm – Coming in season, this is an automatic “specialty weapon” that “offers SMG characteristics as a secondary weapon”.

Melee Weapons

  • Power Drill – A functional power drill with a two-hit kill. Coming in season as an event reward.
  • Cleaver – Another mid-season event reward, the cleaver is a one-shit kill.

Additional Loadout Content

In addition to the weapons, Season 1 will feature various new loadout content for players such as perks. The new perks include:

  • Shadow (Launch)– Undetectable to enemy traps and mines.
  • Shrapnel Radar (Mid-Season) – Dealing blast damage to enemies will reveal them on your minimap. This includes any enemies affected by your area-of-effect Tacticals, Lethals, and Field Upgrades.

There is also a new Scorestreak called the Hand Cannon coming at launch. The Hand Cannon is a “powerful large caliber handgun with high bullet damage and penetration” that was last seen in Black Ops Cold War

Lastly, a new Wildcard called High Roller comes mid-season. When equipped, High Roller allows players to have a fourth Scorestreak.

Black Ops 6 Season 1 Battle Pass

The update also introduces Black Ops 6’s first Battle Pass, which will likely follow a similar format to MW3’s. The Battle Pass will offer players a bunch of rewards, from cosmetics like Operator skins, Emblems, and Calling Cards to Weapon Blueprints and Double XP Tokens.

Will there be new Zombies content in Black Ops 6 Season 1?

At launch, Zombies will get a Directed Mode in Liberty Falls and Terminus. This mode is a more “guided experience” for players to help them complete the main quests in the mode. Also coming at launch is the Hand Cannon.

Come mid-season, there will be more for the mode, included a new round-based map called Citadelle des Morts.

“After the shocking revelations at the culmination of the Terminus Main Quest, Weaver, Maya, Carver, and Grey follow the uncovered clues to Europe, and discover an abandoned castle,” Activision says while keeping a few bigger details under wraps.

Black Ops 6 New Zombies Map

In addition to the map, there will be new loadout content for use across the three maps. The following are confirmed for Zombies during Season 1:

  • An additional Perk-A-Cola (with six new Augments to unlock), also newly stocked at Der Wunderfizz machines in Liberty Falls and Terminus.
  • An additional Field Upgrade (with six new Augments to unlock).
  • An additional Ammo Mod (also with six new Augments to unlock).
  • 18 New Augments (nine Major, nine Minor, see above) to research.
  • Three new delicious flavors of GobbleGums!
  • The Hand Cannon, a new craftable Support weapon.
  • New Wonder Weapons. Weapons? Yes, weapons.
  • A new Enemy Type, said to stalk the dark halls of the foreboding, ruinous keep in Citadelle des Morts.
