For the last couple of years, Activision’s studios have published the annual Call of Duty campaign around a week earlier than the launch of the full game. This was always designed to encourage users to play the campaign in full before accessing multiplayer, which has traditionally been an issue with Call of Duty fans.
However, Activision’s representatives have confirmed that Black Ops 6 will not have an early access period for the campaign this time around.
All At Once
Modern Warfare 2 (2022) and Modern Warfare 3 (2023) benefitted from an early access window for their respective campaign offerings. It was made available by pre-ordering each game, and it served as a nice bonus that allowed users to get the campaign out of the way before diving into the games’ multiplayer platforms without suffering from FOMO.
That’s not happening this year.
In a statement handed to Charlie Intel, Activision confirmed:
The team is fully focused on October 25th. We are excited about all the game has to offer across Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies. This year, we made the decision to ensure the community gets to dig in to any and all modes that they want at the same time, so we are back to one massive global launch moment October 25th.
As such, there is no Early Access beat this year for Black Ops 6, just the countdown to launch.
That means users cannot access any portion of Black Ops 6 before October 25 rolls around. It’ll be a mad dash to get the campaign completed before accessing the multiplayer modes, and for many millions of players, multiplayer takes such a priority that the campaign will remain forever unexplored.
Were you looking forward to potentially accessing the Black Ops 6 campaign early? Let us know in the comments.
