There’s a little confusion surrounding Black Myth: Wukong, namely regarding its gameplay and world style. Some want a massive game the size of Elden Ring. Others, however, prefer a more linear experience. So, is Black Myth: Wukong open world?
Does Black Myth: Wukong Have an Open World?
First and foremost, let me say that not every game needs a massive open world and over 100 hours of gameplay. It’s okay to have a more refined experience, like Lies of P. That’s about what you can expect from Black Myth: Wukong. Though each level or stage is relatively large, it’s not a full-blown open world. You’ll move through the area, uncovering secrets and slaying enemies before ultimately fighting the zone’s boss. Rinse and repeat unit the game is complete!
Some dissatisfied players are calling it a “boss rush” game, in which nothing else matters besides fighting the boss in a meteoric showcase. In their eyes, the rest of the game feels tacked on. I disagree, as do many others.
Again, not every title launching today requires an open world. Who has time to play every huge, expansive game under the sun?
