Black Myth: Wukong took the gaming space by storm and, honestly, much of the world. It’s one of the most successful video games to hail from China and does an exceptional job of unveiling Chinese mythology to the masses. Despite many claiming it’s not a Soulslike, it absolutely is a Soulslike. I’ll die on this hill. So, does Black Myth: Wukong have difficulty settings? Can you make the game easier or more challenging if you’d like?
Can You Raise or Lower the Difficulty in Black Myth: Wukong?
Unfortunately, there is no difficulty settings option in Black Myth: Wukong. The game doesn’t follow the traditional Easy, Medium, or Hard scale of game difficulty but utilizes its own internal difficulty settings to challenge players to an extraordinary experience. However, it follows the same gameplay style as Elden Ring or Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. You can’t lower the difficulty to make life easier, but you can practice and repeat sections of the game to improve your skills.
Furthermore, as in Elden Ring, you can farm zones and enemies in Black Myth: Wukong to level up and make the game slightly more approachable, albeit still tricky.

How Hard is Black Myth: Wukong?
I’ll be frank: Black Myth: Wukong provides quite the challenge. If you’re an inexperienced Soulslike player, or if you were tricked by the many reviews that said the game isn’t Soulslike but is an “action RPG,” which is total bull, then you’re likely feeling the sting of the game’s difficulty.
There’s one boss in particular, in one of the early-game zones, by the name of Wandering Wight. It’s one of the most infuriating boss fights for a new player, and he’s begging you to challenge him. But you’re not supposed to beat him on the first encounter. You’re meant to return at a later time. The game features numerous bosses similar to this one—a lot of optional boss fights.
If you’re not a fan of the Soulslike genre, especially if you grow weary or angry when you don’t progress quickly enough, then perhaps skip Black Myth: Wukong!
One of the best ways to progress in Black Myth: Wukong is to increase your max health. Doing so will allow you to survive encounters with less effort!
