BioWare’s headcount is . According to a new report from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the company now sits at less than 100 employees after having over 200 people just two years ago.
The report says that a number of employees who were put “temporarily” on new teams were informed that those moves were permanent. No longer were they BioWare employees helping out in a different area.
Schreier’s report also corroborates Insider Gaming’s exclusive report that “dozens” of people were let go as part of this wave of layoffs at the studio.
“If they want to work at BioWare again in the future, they would have to look for job openings and re-apply,” Schreier writes. He adds that, for now at least, a small team will work on the next game in the Mass Effect series. This team is being led by “company veteran who oversaw the development on the original trilogy as well as on 2019’s Anthem”. The goal is to then expand as needed later on in production.

As sources told Insider Gaming after the memo from BioWare was released, there is still an internal evaluation being done in order to see where things can be improved. There is still a worry from those who spoke under the condition of anonymity that more layoffs and moves within the studio are coming.
Neither EA nor BioWare have responded to multiple requests for comment on the state of things at the studio.

EA get back to what made you! Close BioWare down. Let’s get a new NBA Street finally like Vol 2, let’s get a spiritual successor to Def Jam Fight For NY, and SSX3 but open world with that Jet Set Radio style 3 had keep the early 2000’s vibes.
Remake Jade Empire. Knowing them they won’t. EA is just a stupid company. Sooner BioWare is gone the better and honestly EA. Who knows maybe they merge with Ubisoft to survive a little longer.
EA close the, down and finally make a new Def Jam! FFNY with modern graphics and rappers.
Cancel Mass Effect already. EA no one wants these games. What happened to their Marvel games? Wasn’t Iron Man supposed to be out this year? Just get back to what made you Def Jam, Fight Night, and NBA Street. Go back to NBA Street Vol 2, Def Jam Fight For NY, Fight Night Round 2, and SSX but go back to SSX3.
BioWare has made trash for how long now? EA is just a dump go back to the EA of the early 2000’s. Partner with Microsoft too for day 1 Game Pass launches. Bring NBA Street back with Ja Morant on the front and NBA YoungBoy blasting also Def Jam or a game like Def Jam but not called Def Jam since the label is trash now.
This game took forever and the characters look butt ugly. Make a new Def Jam game and make sure the titties and ass mechanics and graphics are on par. Just saw Latto’s new video she made me want to bust get that down her, Nicki, Glo has sexy legs, some guys actually feel Sexyy Red. Then pack it with drill artists. Even a new NBA Street would need that if you had Angel Reese in it and a new NBA Street would make money too. A new Fight Night also with BKFC and Paige Van Zant as playable.
Well, once again, gamers voted with their $$$ and proven that go full woke in game will eventually make you go broke.
Think about it, why should a game try to educate me with DEI?
Especially Taash aka trash, this character is ugly, annoying, disgusting and etc etc
These comments are a bit ridiculous on the close Bioware down front. I have been saying for years they need to SELL Bioware, they clearly have had no clue on how utilize since the launch of Origins. Then yes, EA needs to go back to the creators roots. Makes fun games all of which have been listed on the comments already. Fight Night needs to go back to the original formula just modernized for graphics and Framerate.
