The XM4 is one of the starter weapons to use in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. It’s a great Assault Rifle to use and modify once you unlock custom loadouts but for that, you must use the best Attachments, Perks, and Equipment with it to make it a force to be reckoned with.
Some of the XM4 positives are that it’s fairly easy to control and deals good damage. Although you will get better options as you progress, you can go ahead and choose this AR to be one of your mains until the end of Black Ops 6.

Best XM4 loadout attachments in Black Ops 6
- Optic: Kepler Microflex
- Barrel: Long Barrel
- Magazine: Extended Mag I
- Rear Grip: Commando Grip
- Fire Mods: 5.56 Nato SMJ
The Kepler Microflex is a small but clean sight and gives you enough field of view to deal with swinging opponents. It’s much better than the iron sight of the XM4.
Once you start leveling up the weapon, go for Long Barrel as it will increase the firepower of the assault rifle. This will make it easier to kill enemies at a longer range and combine that with the Extended Mag I to have a few more bullets at your disposal. You can skip the Underbarrel as the XM4 is quite easy to control.
Coming to the rear grip, opt for the Commando Grip as it will improve Aim Down Sight and Sprint to Fire speeds, allowing you to kill enemies faster. The 5.56 Nato SMJ Fire Mod will improve the penetration power of bullets thereby dealing better damage to vehicles and scorestreaks.

Best Perks, Wildcard & Equipment for XM4
- Perk 1: Ghost
- Perk 2: Gung-Ho
- Perk 3: Bankroll
- Perk 4: Dexterity
- Wildcard: Perk Greed
- Lethal: Semtex
- Tactical: Stim Shot
- Field Upgrade: Trophy System
Ghost will keep you undetected in the minimap, making flanks and taking enemies by surprise easier to execute. Gung-Ho improves Sprint and Tactical Sprint speeds when you’re reloading weapons or using Equipment.
Bankroll will give you a boost in Scorestreaks with 150 points at the start of each life while Dexterity improves your movement speed. You get to choose a fourth perk, thanks to the Perk Greed wildcard.
You can choose the Semtex as a lethal weapon as it sticks to the surface and Sti, Shot tactical will allow you to refill health quickly when hit. Coming to the field upgrade, keep the Trophy System as it eliminates enemy projectiles such as Frag Grenades, Flashes, or Semtex.
Best Secondary for XM4
Both the 9 MM PM and Stryder .22 are two of the best secondary weapons you can pair with the XM4. You get the first pistol right after unlocking custom loadouts while the Stryder .22 unlocks after reaching level 40.
These two pistols have enough firepower to finish off enemies when the XM4 magazines run out of ammo.
How to unlock XM4 in Black Ops 6
All you need to do to unlock the XM4 is reach level 4, which is an easy task as it hardly takes a couple of multiplayer matches. This will open up the custom loadouts and you will find the AR listed there.
Is the XM4 any good in Black Ops 6?
Yes, the XM4 is a good weapon choice in BO6. The positives of this weapon are a high TTK, low recoil which makes it fairly easy to control, and a high bullet velocity. This makes killing multiple enemies at once easier.
Best alternatives to the XM4 in Black Ops 6
One of the best alternatives to the XM4 is the AK-74 Assault Rifle. It can deal more damage than the XM4 and is an ideal choice for medium-to-long-range combat. For close range, however, the Jackal PDW SMG would be a great choice.
