Larian Studios has announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 will officially release next year, and it will include a number of highly anticipated features and requests.
“[Before] we bid Faerûn adieu in search of stranger shores, we have one more major patch waiting around the corner,” Larian said. “Arriving next year, this update will introduce some of the most eagerly awaited features to BG3: cross-play, and photo mode, along with 12 new subclasses.”
Regarding cross-play, Baldur’s Gate 3 will feature full cross-play between all available platforms as well as cross-platform progression.
“Once the update is live you’ll be able to invite your friends to join your cross-play lobby directly, regardless of platform and find available multiplayer lobbies with friends on other systems using the Larian Network,” they said.
With Photo Mode, players will be able to set up the shots they’d like from the game in the manner they prefer. The feature will add “a whole slew of options” for players that lets them customize and edit in-game photography.
Lastly, there will be 12 new subclasses added to the game. Each class within the game will get a new subclass, giving players new ways to play their character. Those subclasses are:
- Bard – College of Glamour
- Barbarian – Path of Giants
- Cleric – Death Domain
- Druid – Circle of Stars
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown
- Fighter – Arcane Archer
- Monk – Drunken Master
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper
- Rogue – Swashbuckler
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
- Warlock – Hexblade
- Wizard – Bladesinging
You can get full details on each of the new subclasses as well as the different Photo Mode settings and other planned updates via the studio’s community update.
A firm launch date for Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 will be announced at a later date.
