In a new post on Steam, Larian Studios confirmed the changes coming to Baldur’s Gate 3 in Patch 7, and that the Closed Beta launches on July 22, 2024.
Patch 7 will feature a dynamic split screen mode, “several new cinematics” for evil endings, a variety of fixes, and the anticipated modding toolkit.
Larian previously announced that Patch 7 will release sometime in September 2024, with a Closed Beta coming this month. There is still no concrete launch date for Patch 7, but the Closed Beta did hit its release window.
Registration for the Closed Beta is now open, and randomly selected registrants will gain access to the playtest.
Many fans believed that the addition of mod support would likely mark the final major patch for Baldur’s Gate 3.
However, Larian Studios just confirmed that “Patch 7 won’t be the final update for Baldur’s Gate 3.” The devs added that “we still have a few things up our sleeve.”
Some of the features to follow Patch 7 will include “crossplay and a photo mode.” There will also be “gameplay tweaks and quality-of-life improvements to bug fixes and performance optimizations.”
However, Larian Studios has made it clear that it still plans to move on from Baldur’s Gate 3. In May 2024, Larian opened a new studio in Warsaw. The devs stated it was the right time to expand, “with two very ambitious RPGs now starting development.”
