Baldur’s Gate 3 Deluxe Edition Details Announced

Larian Studios has officially confirmed details for a Deluxe Edition of Baldur’s Gate 3 in a new tweet. It will include physical copies of the game and a combination of physical and digital exclusives.

This Deluxe Edition will be available for $79.99 on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Pre-orders for this edition are available now. According to the official product page, shipping is currently estimated for Q1 of 2024.

Fortunately, the new Deluxe Edition will also include the Digital Deluxe version of the game. Below you can see the full announcement from Larian with images of the various exclusives:

The stickers and patches look fine enough, but these likely won’t impress many. They’re an inexpensive way to bloat content, even if they feature notable artwork.

It’s also unfortunate that the Deluxe Edition doesn’t feature as much content that is directly related to Dungeons & Dragons gameplay. Its sheer sense of freedom is remarkably close to hobby gaming.

A dungeon master screen, dice tower, or other usable tabletop components would have likely been more satisfying. After all, Baldur’s Gate 3 has been praised for its fidelity to the tabletop counterpart.

At the very least, the Digital Deluxe Edition will cover fans in that regard. It involves genuine character sheets and other traditional items.

However, the detailed world map and Mind Flayer poster do have a gorgeous art design, and they are worth collecting and displaying. Owning the soundtrack on three hard discs will also be a worthwhile display, as CD collections have somewhat gained popularity of late.

It’s also a welcome surprise that the new Deluxe Edition is going to be released on all available platforms. That’s highly unusual for any special or physical edition, and Xbox fans in particular are often left out.
