During a new interview with IGN, Baldur’s Gate 3 actors Neil Newbon and Amelia Tyler both showed interest in returning to the Dungeons & Dragons franchise.
Newbon, the actor who played iconic rogue Astarion, said they would like to reprise that role in particular. They explained that “I feel I’m not done with him,” and continued that “hopefully at some point I’m going to reprise him.”
IGN wisely asked Newbon if they would ever be interested in live action. The Astarion actor seemed enthusiastic, responding “oh my god, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.”
Astarion has a big personality, and they would certainly fit the big screen. Their backstory would also fill out a new side of the D&D universe after Honor Among Thieves.
Amelia Tyler, the narrator of Baldur’s Gate 3, also said she would reprise her role. But she also added that she’d welcome “anything Dungeons & Dragons or tabletop related, absolutely.”
That leaves a bit more room for Tyler to potentially play other roles, too. It’d be neat to see them take on a live action character.
Their performance successfully created a terrific sense of atmosphere to every moment, large or small. Tyler nailed the emotional beats and the humor, both of which get quite nuanced throughout the game.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves earned a lot of praise from critics and fans alike. Like Baldur’s Gate 3, it made the IP more accessible and broadened the audience.
But its fate remains unclear, since the film actually struggled a bit at the box office. Paramount did not confirm a sequel is happening just yet.
Either way, D&D fans are sure to support any kind of return from the Baldur’s Gate 3 actors. The game just won big at the BAFTA Awards this week.
