The classic Backyard Baseball 97 is returning to PC next month. Playground Productions has announced that it’s working with Mega Cat Studios to re-release Backyard Baseball 97 on Steam on October 10.
“Playground Productions and Mega Cat Studios are teaming up to bring Backyard Baseball ’97 back to the diamond,” the announcement read. “Get ready for classic gameplay, iconic characters, and a whole lot of nostalgic fun!”

The news comes a month after it was announced that the Backyard Sports franchise was returning after a long hiatus.
As mentioned, the game will be available on Steam. According to its store listing, it has been “updated for modern systems” though no official details on what was done was mentioned.
“Rediscover the joy of the original Backyard Baseball 1997, now updated for modern systems,” the description reads. “Build your roster from among the iconic Backyard Kids, aim for those home runs, and various game modes.”
As far as features goes, the game will include what you knew from the original release: Random Pick-up Game, a Single Game, and a Season mode. There is no multiplayer as it’s being treated as a true re-release of the first game.
