Astro Bot is taking over the gaming world in one of two ways: either people adore the game or are upset that a PlayStation-exclusive title is doing so well. Those who love the game mostly hunker down to play, but they still have questions that we here at Insider Gaming intend to answer. For instance, is Astro Bot co-op?
Can You Play Astro Bot Cooperatively?
Unfortunately, Astro Bot is not a co-op game. It’s a single-player-only adventure platformer with much to explore and uncover, but it involves just you and the game world. Of course, there are numerous Bots within the game to meet up with, especially from other PlayStation-centric franchises, but it’s still a lonely world.
It’s odd that the studio didn’t include cooperative multiplayer. Astro Bot seems perfect for a couch co-op (local co-op) or online co-op with even one other player to share the experience. But all that said, the title was made by a small studio with a limited budget and a clear vision in mind.
If you wish to play something similar to Astro Bot with a friend or partner, the closest option is The Playroom VR, a free-to-play virtual reality spin-off available on PSVR and PSVR2.

How Does Astro Bot Play?
As an adventure platformer, you will take control of Astro Bot as you hop and leap between platforms, solve puzzles, and interact with unique and nostalgic characters from throughout PlayStation history. You may interact with the world in various ways, turning and moving platforms, for example, to clear a route through to the next goal.
Furthermore, a handful of abilities become available throughout the game as you progress, unlocking unique abilities, such as the chance to grow bigger and smash through obstacles, soak up water and put our fire, or fly through the air using laser beams emitted from the underside of your boots. The goal here is interactivity and fun, first and foremost.
Speaking of Astro Bot, did you see the Days Gone director slamming Bend Studio over Deacon St. John appearing in the game? It’s a whole thing over on social media, and we reported on the matter here at Insider Gaming!
