In a new AMA session on Reddit, Assassin’s Creed Mirage developers Stephane Boudon and Jean-Luc Sala teased a variety of their team’s plans.
Boudon is the creative director and Sala is the art director on the Assassin’s Creed Mirage team. Together, they only offered a few responses despite hundreds of questions pouring in, but the answers were also fairly revealing.
During the AMA, the devs reiterated that they built Assassin’s Creed Mirage as a standalone game. There are still no plans for DLC. However, Boudon did reveal that “we have ideas on how we could extend the story of Basim.”
It’s unlikely that Basim will have their own dedicated game again. But the statement does imply Basim still has more potential story and could reappear in future titles. Additionally, they hinted that “Basim’s sword from Valhalla will be available in Ubisoft connect later on.”
Despite the prospect of more Basim-driven content, it’s unclear if or how Ubisoft Bordeaux will return to the series. One Reddit user asked if Ubisoft Bordeaux would develop “additional old-school AC games” instead of separate or new IP.
Boudon teased that “we work in the dark to serve the light.” But another answer suggested that “we would also love to explore new horizons and having more creative freedom.” If this only refers to Basim, the team could potentially create an entirely new character for the Assassin’s Creed series.
There were also some smaller reveals in the AMA. The devs mentioned that new Photo Mode content would likely appear in a different project. They also had ideas for players to create and share their own challenges and contracts.
So, these could potentially show up in future Creed games, especially from Ubisoft Bordeaux. Most recently, Assassin’s Creed Mirage added a Permadeath mode in February.
