An Annual Report from Digital Domain suggests that the release date for Studio Wildcard’s prehistoric sci-fi mashup Ark 2 could be much further down the line than we thought.
Ark 2 which stars Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel, was originally announced all the way back in 2020 and was initially slated for a 2022 release date. The game has been subject to a number of substantial delays which most recently pushed its release date all the way back to the end of 2024. According to Digital Domain though, this is not the game’s final release date.
An excerpt from the support studio’s annual report was posted on Twitter by @Ark2News and suggests that Studio Wildcard is in fact aiming for a 2025 release date. Digital Domain has worked closely with the studio throughout the development of Ark 2 to produce in-game assets and notes that it will be “intimately involved in all aspects of the project through the game’s release in spring of 2025”
Studio Wildcard has since refuted that release date and has issued a statement to GamesRadar+ which insists that the 2025 release date is in fact a typo. It’s entirely possible that this is in fact the case, but given Ark 2’s troubled development, would one final delay really be that much of a shocker?
It’s bound to come as a blow to Ark fans who vented their fury at Studio Wildcard following their questionable decision to close down the Ark: Survival Evolved servers to pave the way for its remastered version, Survival Ascended. Needless to say that this one has us, along with many others, a little nervous to say the least.
Are you hoping Ark 2 sticks to a 2024 release date?
